Cardio Tennis

What is Cardio Tennis?

Cardio tennis is a fitness program that focuses more on movement rather than hitting great tennis strokes. Tips are given to help with strokes but the main emphasis is having a great physical workout while playing tennis. It is generally a fast paced session that allows you to challenge yourself physically and mentally.


Who can participate in the classes?

If you can hit a tennis ball, basically you can participate. As long as an exercise screening form is completed and approved by the trainer prior to commencement.


What do I need to bring to the class?

All participants should bring a drink, a towel and a yoga mat if they have one. The mat is very useful otherwise a towel can be used to lie on. Ideally 2 towels is best, one large towel to lie on and one to wipe the sweat off.


What is the structure of the class?

The structure includes a session for warm up, cardio/conditioning and cool down. Some of the training tools in the program include tennis drills, Swiss ball exercises, footwork drills and body weight exercises.

Doubles Point Play (Tactical Point Construction)

 

What is Doubles Play (tactical point construction)?

The Doubles Play (tactical point construction) program uses various scenarios or themes set by the coach during points to improve strategical play. For example, serve and volleying on the first serve or returning serve with a chip shot and coming into the net to attack.

Some technical pointers are given but doubles tactics and strategy is the main focus. Singles can be included as well depending on the goals of the group. This is a fun and social class. Coach drilling is not included in this class.


Who can participate in the classes?

This program is suitable for intermediate to advanced level players (ITN 5 to 7).


What do I need to bring to the class?

All participants should bring a drink, a towel and a fun attitude.


What is the structure of the class?

The structure involves various themes, point play situations and pointers on one court while another court plays by themselves trying to practice what has been learned. Players are rotated from the free hitting court to the themed court regularly.
